Background of the Catholic Nurses Guild of Nigeria (CNGN)

The Catholic Nurses Guild of Nigeria is the answer to the recommendation of Second Vatican Council on the “Health Apostolate of the Laity. The Catholic Nurse is meant to be a servant of Charity of God whose overall task is to see that the call of Christ is made a living reality in today’s world. In line with the Nigeria Catholic Health Policy, her mission consists of trauma and giving new meaning to suffering, with an eye on the redemptive passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the realization of the evangelic councels taught by Jesus, the greatest consoler and reliever of the afflicted (Matt. 10:8)

Aims and Objectives

1. To unite all Catholic Nurses and promote a sense of belonging among them, as well as full participation in evangelization

2. To promote and inculcate a sense of awareness in both spiritual and professional values in accordance with the Catholic doctrines in the protection of life, relief of the suffering and promotion of health for the benefit of all.

3. To establish and sustain professional and friendly relation with all Catholic organizations

4. To speak up against issues which are morally and socially wrong

The under listed dioceses have full membership with catholic guild of Nigeria.
